Richard Lander School takes its name after the famous eighteenth century explorer, who is perhaps Truro's finest son.
Richard Lander was an Explorer and his greatest achievement was tracing the course hundreds of miles up the River Niger to New Bussa. This opened up trade and economic links which still exist today.
Standing proudly in New Bussa, is Richard Lander Primary School. It is there in recognition of the life and work of Richard Lander. Our school has good links with Richard Lander Primary School, sharing the same sense of tradition and history.
Over the course of the coming year, we intend to strengthen our relationships with Richard Lander Primary School in Nigeria through a student pen pal project involving Year 7 students.
