The annual Young Person’s art Prize has recently taken place. This competition is run by The Exchange Gallery in Penzance and every year the gallery chooses a theme to coincide with a current exhibition. This year the theme was ‘Flora’ and we had a whole range of amazing artwork to choose from to enter into the competition. We sent our entries down to the gallery and we were lucky to have lots of students shortlisted by a prestigious judging panel that included artist and art professionals.
There are three age categories: 11-13 years , 14-16 years and 17-19 years. The prize giving was on Friday 22nd April and we had an extremely pleasing set of results. In the 11-13 age group Mikey Wale in Year 7 came second with his fantastic stained glass tree and Lucy Fripp in Year 9 came third with her acrylic on card piece.
In the 14-16 age category Dillon Antunes came first with his imaginative plant and denim sculpture.
All shortlisted work will remain on display at The Exchange Gallery in Penzance until 27th April for any visitors to see.
Well done to all those students who got involved and special congratulations to the winners!
