On Wednesday 26th September 42 of Richard Lander School’s top swimmers visited Millfield School to compete in the 55th ESSA National Swimming Championships for Secondary Schools—South West Division.
The students competed in 2 ages groups with years 7,8,& 9 competing in the junior events and years 10 & 11 in intermediate events. The students were all great representatives for the school and enjoyed the experience of racing at an Olympic sized swimming pool.
An added bonus was that the students had the pleasure of watching the Ladies 100m Breaststroke Olympic Champion, Ruta Meilutyte (16) from Lithuania, race with her team in the 4 x 50m Freestyle and Medley Relays in the senior age group.
With Olympic champions and National champions at this event the opposition was always going to be very tough, but our Richard Lander School Swim Team really “did us proud, ” and the results were as follows:
Junior Boys 4x 50m Freestyle Teams (32 Teams Competing)
Junior Girls 4x 50m Freestyle Teams (49 Teams Competing)
Intermediate Boys 4x 50m Freestyle Teams (27 Teams Competing)
Intermediate Girls 4x 50m Freestyle Teams (37 Teams Competing)
Medley Relays (Back, Breast, Fly, Free)
Junior Boys 4x 50m Medley Teams (30 Teams Competing)
Junior Girls 4x 50m Medley Teams (51 Teams Competing)
Intermediate Boys 4x 50m Medley Teams (26 Teams Competing)
Well done to everyone who took part! (Mr J Webb)
