On Monday 1st October and Tuesday 2nd October we took all our new year 7 students to either Penzance or St Ives for a day of gallery visits and drawing from observation.
We had two very busy but brilliant days! Students behaved exceptionally well and were a credit to the school.
Positive comments were received from both gallery staff and the general public.
Students enjoyed a master class demonstration at the Leach Pottery, spent time drawing the sculptures in the Hepworth Museum and Garden and experienced the weird and wonderful world of Bruce Lacey.
In the Penlee Gallery students began to investigate the traditional paintings created by the Newlyn School of Painters and also had their picture taken by the gold post box in honour of Olympic gold medal winner Helen Glover.
Students also spent time drawing from observation, sitting on the seafront and absorbing the atmosphere that has inspired so many artists before them. A great day had by all, well done year 7!
