Darren Myners Wins "Whatever it Takes" Design Competiton
Talented artist, Darren Myners (Y11) recently beat over 150 other entrants to win the “Whatever it Takes” design competition organised by Heartlands. Darren was tasked to design a Cornwall inspired skateboard, and then transfer the design to a used deck which had been donated by a skateboarding professional. The design he came up with was both skilfully drawn and highly original, it showed a pasty skateboarding against a breaking wave. The competition was judged by Blueprint pro, Nick Jensen (pictured above with Darren), one of the UK’s top skateboarders who said “Darren's design really showed what is great about Cornwall and how passionately people feel about the place.” Darren won a skate deck donated by S J Skate Store, Truro, and a T-shirt from Roots Skate Shop, Camborne. He has also been offered the chance to have a days mentoring with the Heartlands graphic designer. More information is available on the Heartlands website. Darren also features in the DT Hall of Fame on this website.
