Mithian and KEA vault to the top in Key Steps Competition!
On Monday 21st January Richard Lander School hosted its annual Primary Key Steps Gym competition. Disappointingly, after a few last minute drop outs from schools who were no longer able to make the event only 3 schools from the Richard Lander and Penair clusters entered the School Gymnast or Club Gymnast competitions. Each team consisted of 4 gymnasts with each gymnast performing the 3 routines; Body Management, Floor Exercise and Vault. Each gymnast was scored individually for the 3 elements and this was then combined to get a team score. Mithian won the Club Gymnast competition automatically as they had no other competition but still performed exceptionally well and deserved to make it to the finals. Kea School team won the School Gymnast competition just pipping their competition Devoran. All 3 schools then proceeded to the Partnership Finals at Gazelles Gymnastic club on the 25th January to represent the Truro cluster.
Unfortunately the qualifying teams did not go on to win the partnership competition but did our clusters proud. Well done to all those involved and lets hope for a better turn out next year!
KS1 Students enjoy multi-skills mania!
On Monday 28th January approximately 50 KS1 students from Treyew, Mithian, Threemilestone and Mount Hawke Schools participated in a multi-skills festival at Richard Lander. All primary students took part in a carousel of activities led by our Yr10 sports leaders, who were a credit to the school as ever. Activities including targets games, the bean game, robins nest, agility ladder practices and many more generic multi-skills activities.
Feedback received was very positive and it was clear to see all students big and small had had a fun and enjoyable afternoon. again.
