Trip to Exeter University for Year 10 Discover English Day
ON Friday 19th April, 10 year 10 students had the opportunity to visit Exeter University in order to experience what studying English could be like. It was an early start but the day was certainly worth it.
During the day, our students were split into different groups and took part in 3 workshops that covered topics such as “Writing in the wild”, “Thomas Hardy” and many more. It was great to see our students working interactively with other schools and never let themselves down. The PhD students, who were running the sessions, were very passionate about their subjects and this started to rub off on the students.
Chelsea Humby, GLTW, said “the poetry session by Suzanne Steele was inspirational,” while Harry Blackman, PACO, said “this is an amazing university. I would love to come here.” The campus tour gave the students the chance to soak in some of the atmosphere and look around the amazing new build, The Forum, in the centre of the university. I think many of them now want their own large iPad tables!
It was a great day all round and a great experience.
