Year 8 Spray Paint Artists Transform Truro Library Garden with Cosmic

Added 7 years ago

On Monday and Tuesday, 10 Year 8 students attended a workshop at Truro Library where they were taught spray paint techniques by well known local artist Cosmic, and tasked with creating pieces of installation art for the library’s garden.  On day 1, the pupils created individual, Alice in Wonderland inspired, pieces of art to  be hidden amongst  the plants. On day 2, the whole group worked together to make a large free standing dreamlike character. After much discussion, the “Birdger” was born and the team set about drawing, cutting out, painting and installing him in his new home.

In case you are wondering, a Birdger is a cross between a bird and a hamburger!

All the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience;

Catelin Allan said: “ I love art and to be able to do this is brilliant, the garden is amazing!”

Shane Dingle added: “I really enjoyed working with Cosmic, the art was fun, the library staff are great and there were good refreshments.”

Thank you Cosmic for your expert tuition, Anna Sidney for organising the event and the delicious refreshments, and Truro Community Library for providing the venue
