Last week a group of Year 8 students had the chance to learn about the Civil War in Cornwall. Students had a guided tour of the backrooms at the Records Office which are not normally open to the public and then participated in a number of different workshops looking at original documents that relate to the Civil War. Over the next two weeks students will be leading these activities in school with their own History groups. Students enjoyed their visit, Emily Smith in Year 8 said “I really enjoyed the role plays and found it really interesting to be able to go into the strong rooms and look at all the original records and documents. “ Dulcie Havers also commented on the change in temperature! “Going into the strong rooms was really cold as the documents have to be kept at a special temperature but it was worth it to have a chance to see all the old documents.” All the students were excellent ambassadors for the school, well done.
