Richard Lander BBC School Report 2012

Added 8 years ago

Students took part in a number of training sessions on finding, reporting and broadcasting news prior to the live event.  Students had the opportunity to work with BBC Cameraman Tony Smith who also helped with the training, sharing his wealth of expertise.

All the students worked incredibly hard giving up a number of lunchtime and after school sessions to ensure that it all came together on the day.  An interesting mix of stories was produced ranging from a piece about how taking your shoes off helps you to concentrate to views on Truros most controversial statue!  David Dixon (Year 9) in charge of the technical team said I found the experience enjoyable but challenging making the news is not as easy as it looks! Hannah Healey (Year 9) who was Entertainment presenter said It was a really good experience and I learned lots about how the news is made.

Three lucky students also had the opportunity to see how the news is made at BBC Radio Cornwall prior to their radio interview about their experiences of School Report.  Congratulations to all the students who took part.  Editorial team:  Jasmine Bensilum, Ellie Faux,Emily Griffiths, Florence Haddrell, Georgiana Jefferies, Hannah Healey, Francesca Hume, Natasha Loydell, Emily Manley and Harry Searle.  Technical team: Toby Blanks, David Dixon, Stanley Flynn, Miguel Richmond and Dan Woodside. Thanks also to Mr Conrad for his technical know how!

The broadcast can be viewed  from the partnerships link on our school website or from the BBC School Report website.
