Success Aplenty at the Young Enterprise Innovation Awards
Added 5 years ago
Year 10 students from ‘Rocky and Co’ and ‘Knotbox’ enjoyed an amazing afternoon at the Young Enterprise Innovation Awards at the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay, last Thursday. This was the culmination of 9 months of hard work, starting businesses from scratch, bringing products to market, attending trade fairs, producing company reports…
21 teams took part in Young Enterprise this year - the most ever in Cornwall—and we were very proud that both our teams made the top 8 and then made confident presentations to 250 Cornish business guests.
‘Rocky and Co’ came third overall. They also won Best Financially Managed Company, came runners-up in Best Use of ICT, and runners-up in Best Presentation awards categories.
Knotbox won the Best Use of Social Media category and were runners up in Best Business Report category, with Maggie Sykes winning the Individual Special Achievement Award. Mrs Ford also had the honour of winning the award for the Best Centre Lead.
Well done to all students who took part, and to Mrs Ford, for all her support and hard work. We would like to thank the companies’ business advisors for all their valuable advice and help with press releases and those all-important company reports. Helping ‘Knot box’ - Neil Chamberlain from Worldwide Financial Planning and Laura Hicks from Wildcard PR. Neil Chamberlain won best Business Advisor at the awards. Helping ’Rocky and Co’ - Phillipa Hill from Wildcard PR and Dan Sampson from RBS. We are also extremely grateful to The Dash Group who helped ‘Rocky and Co’ with their graphics and with building their website and to Roddas who ran workshops in school.
