RE: Pupil Premium KS4 Parent information evening, Monday 7th December 2015 @ 6pm
We write to you as your child is part of the Pupil Premium Ever 6 category. This means that your child is eligible to participate in fully funded extra tuition sessions in English and Maths hosted by us in school. If in year 11 your child may already be taking part in these sessions, with year 10 students being offered intervention sessions from January 2015.
On Monday the 7th December at 6pm we are holding a Pupil Premium parent information evening and hope that you will able to come along, even if your child is not actively participating within the tuition sessions we would encourage you to come along to find out more and discuss with us ways in which we can maximise your child’s GCSE grades and overall attainment throughout their education at Richard Lander School.
Within the session we will discuss our strategy for KS4 students within the Ever 6 pupil premium category, the reasons for offering these sessions, the benefits of your child attending our intervention sessions and the progress and attainment measures achieved by our year 11 Pupil Premium student leavers July 2015 as evidence of success of the scheme.
We do hope you will be able to make this informal session and look forward to working with you and your child. If you would like to attend this information session please complete the form below, returning it student reception for the attention of Mr Rabey.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What does this mean for me and my child?
It means that your child will receive some extra support; they will get help with organisation if they need it and will be at the top of the list to receive academic mentoring as and when necessary. Your child will have access to small group sessions designed to assist with their learning and to plug any gaps in their knowledge, thereby maximizing exam performance.
What if my child is meeting or exceeding their targets?
We would still like to offer your child extra support and will ensure that they are involved in activities which will help them to access the very top grades.
Will other children know that my child has been selected to receive extra support?
There will be lots of children who are selected for this extra support. Many of these children will be eligible for Pupil Premium, some will not. We will offer the support to all children who we think will benefit. Young people are used to being offered support in and out of class for a variety of reasons. This is not something that we discuss with the whole school body. We will ensure that any additional support or opportunity is carried out in a discrete and sensitive way. The details of why each individual has been selected will not be shared with other students.
I still don’t understand why my child should be involved in this initiative?
If you are left with any questions after reading this letter, please have a look at the Pupil Premium area on our website where a precise breakdown of the spending and anticipated outcomes can be found. If you would prefer to go through this with someone in person, please telephone or email and I will be happy to make an appointment where we can talk this through in more detail. This parent information evening is designed to answer parental questions exactly like this.
