Arts Award - Bronze Workshops

Year 10 students have been busy leading a variety of Creative Arts workshops as part of their Arts Award Bronze certification. Our students have organised and facilitated workshops varying from Ballet for Beginners to Improvisation Skills and Comic Strip Illustration with younger students from Richard Lander, our feeder primary schools and even at a local Stagecoach Theatre Arts School. In order to achieve their Arts Award qualification students complete four assessed units the final one being Arts Apprenticeship- passing on arts skills to others.

Arts Award Leader and drama teacher Miss Scholes commented on what a privilege it has been to witness our highly gifted pupils sharing their interests and skills so confidently and enthusiastically with their younger peers. The breadth of talent and active involvement in the Arts at Richard Lander is huge and therefore the Arts Award is the perfect opportunity for students to be recognised for their commitment. The candidates this year have produced some superb folders that document their involvement in the Arts and we are excitedly anticipating the moderation in July.

Fleur Anderson said; I think leading an arts workshop has built my confidence further and encouraged me to do more workshops in the future and its taught me how sharing my skills in Drama can be really beneficial to those who may lack confidence or wish to extend their skills further through the experience I can offer.

Holly Summerson said; I really enjoyed my arts workshop, it was fun and interesting, and something I might not have done if it wasnt for arts award. It was great to be able to share my skills, and witness how the other pupils responded to my teaching and passion for Art.
