Every year we are lucky enough to be part of the Combined Truro Art project . This is the 12th year of the project and its goes from strength to strength. Seven other local schools are involved and throughout the school year small workshops are offered which rotate between the participating schools. For each workshop a small group of students from each school will attend and learn new skills as well as work with other students. So far this year there has been a painting workshop with a working artist, a ceramics workshop with a highly skilled ceramicist and an installation workshop.
All of the work produced will go on display at the Lander Gallery from the 9th March. Alongside the workshops within school we work with Year 8 to also produce work which will go on display in the gallery. This year the theme is abstract art and we have planned a short project which is being delivered in lessons. Students have been looking at abstract art and artists and they have been developing abstract painting skills which will go on to be developed into abstract painted compositions. A selection of this work will form part of the exhibition at the gallery.
The private view for the exhibition is the 9th March from 6-8pm and anyone is invited to attend. The exhibition continues until the 14th March. The Lander Gallery is located on Lemon Street in Truro.
