Richard Lander had an incredibly successful week at the County Music Festival this year. Changing Voices, Jazz Band, Terpsichore and Dolce performed with exuberance and were awarded high marks for their efforts. There were many solo entries in various classes with individuals doing just as well.
The Jazz Band, above, retained the very large trophy as they won their class! Terpsichore, below right, performance made the adjudicator so emotional that he could not read out their feedback. He said that their performance was imaginative and the balance of instruments was exceptional, he had never in ‘all his years’ heard such an impressive ensemble which consisted of just students. He even invited them up to Wiltshire to perform in a festival he runs there. Terpsichore were also awarded a special award at the Gala Concert for the best overall ensemble performance of the week!
Changing Voices had tough competition in their class. They performed really well and both music teachers were very proud of them all. We left the Church singing!
Josephine Cowley won her classes and was also awarded another trophy for the best instrumentalist of the week! She performed with real maturity and panache in the Gala Concert, it was a real joy to watch!
Recorder players from RLS are still going strong! They won all of the solo recorder, duet and sonata classes. The Dolce consort (recorder quartet) also won their class with a Distinction mark.
