Cow and Cake for a Cow!

This Friday staff and students at Richard Lander raised money in order to buy a cow for the orphans in Bukomasimbi, to enable them to have milk regularly and provide some income by being able to breed from it.
Beccie Ford, who is a local community artist, made plaster-of-paris cows which were sold to be  decorated and returned to the staff room by the 28th June for judgement. The winner will have the privilege of naming the cow which we will purchase for the orphans. The cows will then be randomly placed around the school rather like the full size cows that were placed around Truro.
There were also delicious cakes for sale, a 2 tier cow cake for auction and a bucket collection. RJGI won the large cow cake, following a winning joint auction bid by Mrs Gilbert and Mr Mulcahy.
In total the event raised over 400 which may even enable the orphans to have 2 cows!
