In Year 9, students choose their KS4 options. The curriculum that we provide at Key Stage 4 is based on two important principles. Firstly all students are entitled to a broad, balanced, relevant and, as far as possible, personalised education, and secondly all the requirements of the National Curriculum and recent government legislation must be met. The majority of students will follow courses which will lead to nine or ten GCSE examinations, or their equivalent. The KS4 Courses brochure below provides information on all KS4 courses available at Richard Lander School. College courses are also available to a small number of students on invitation.
Unfortunately we can’t host our usual Options Evening this year, so we have prepared a virtual event for our Year 9 students and their parents instead. You will find an introductory video from Mrs Beech, an interactive map and a pdf booklet with detailed course information. All of our KS4 courses have recorded a 2 minute video to explain both the benefits of choosing their option and how their course will unfold over the next two years.
We really hope this will help you to make your decision but if you are struggling, please remember that your teachers are here to help! They are available via email and will answer any questions and advise you on whether their course is suitable for you.
Following the recent news about school closures we would now like year 9 students to complete a digital copy of the options form below. The completed form needs to be sent to Year9Options@richardlander.cornwall.sch.uk by Friday 22nd January please.
