In the quaint village of Much-Piddling-in-the-Marsh, social climber Abigail Lovejoy and her long suffering husband Derek are hosting a fancy dress party to raise funds to oppose a scheme to build tacky new houses on their estate.
An interesting array of guests arrive, including Nev and June Campbell who are old friends of the Lovejoys, TV celebrity Ricardo Martini the smooth talking Italian, a very excitable new neighbour called Sharon, and two grouchy old aged pensioners, Peggy and Ada, who don’t really know why they are there. When two police officers arrive, the innocent party takes a dark turn and someone is murdered.
