On 3rd and 4th October 2023 Ofsted conducted an inspection where they found Richard Lander School continues to be a good school.
Year 11 students have 2 sets of mocks to prepare them for their GCSE exams in June. These take place before Christmas and after February half term.
Mrs Bond, Assistant Headteacher, is the overall lead for Exams and Assessments.

Richard Lander School GCSE Results 2025
After five years of dedication and hard work, Class of 2025 students have been rewarded with results that reflect their resilience, commitment, and ambition. An impressive 25% of students achieved 5 or more GCSEs at grades 9–7 (previously an A/A*), and 73% of the cohort gained 5 or more passes at grades 9–4.
Notable highlights include:
- 30 students achieved 9 or more GCSEs at grades 9–7
- 22.5% of students secured 9–7 grades in both English and Maths
- 54.3% achieved grades 9–5 in both English and Maths
- 71.4% achieved grades 9–4 in both English and Maths
- 25% of our students gained five or more Grade 7–9 passes
- 73% of the cohort gained 5 or more passes at grades 9–4
A special congratulations goes to three exceptional students who each achieved nine GCSEs at Grade 9 — the highest grade possible. Among them was Rudy, who said: “Hard work pays off.” His outstanding results — nine Grade 9s and one Grade 8 — must prove this!
Today’s results are a celebration not just of academic excellence, but of the values and community spirit that define Richard Lander School. The Class of 2025 now move forward with confidence, ready to take on new challenges and opportunities.
Richard Lander School GCSE Results 2024
On behalf of staff and the governing body, we offer our congratulations to Year 11 students who did so well in their GCSE exams this summer. Their success is the result of 5 years’ hard work and commitment to their studies during their time at Richard Lander School.
Most of our students achieved outstanding results and almost 20% of students gained 5 or more Grade 7-9 passes, which is a terrific achievement.
We wish all our students the very best for the future as they embark on the next stage of their exciting journey. On behalf of the whole school community, well done to Year 11!

- 18.5% of our students gained 5 or more 9-7 grades – the equivalent to the old A/A* grade
- 13 students gained 9 or more 9-7 grades
- 18.4% of our students gained a 9-7 grade in English
- 24.7% of our students gained a 9-7 grade in maths
- 57.3% of our students gained a pass in English (9-5)
- 55.6% of our students gained a pass in maths (9-5)
- 46.9% of our students gained a 9-5 grade in English and maths
- 75.0% of our students gained a pass in English (9-4)
- 73.3% of our students gained a pass in maths (9-4)
- 65.6% of our students gained a 9-4 grade in English and maths
- Attainment 8 Score: 46.69
- Percentage of students entered for the English Baccalaureate (EBacc): 30.9%
- EBacc Average Points Score: 4.00
